Summer knitting for beginner knitters

Summer isn’t traditionally thought of as the time for knitting. Maybe this goes back to earlier days when people knitted winter woollens out of necessity rather than for the pure joy of creating them.

If you want to try some small easy knitting projects that are ideal to pop into your bag wherever you are this Summer, you might like these lacy bookmarks. They’re great for everyone including confident beginner knitters who’d like to learn some new simple stitch patterns.

Lace knit patterns are not as difficult as they look.

Lace pattern bookmark in variegated sock yarn

All the bookmarks in the Etsy shop are designed to be knitted in 4 ply sock weight yarn. One 20g sock mini is all you need to knit one bookmark. The pattern for the bookmark pictured above in shades of green and yellow can be found here.

Diamond lace knitted bookmark

The pink bookmark is also knitted up with 4 ply sock yarn. I really love this diamond effect lace pattern and it’s so easy to achieve. The knit pattern for this bookmark can be found here.

Why not give them a try. They’re fun to knit and when you’ve finished you have a lovely bookmark to use for all your Summer reading.

Have a wonderful Summer and enjoy your knitting!
